LifeLine counselors are highly trained licensed professionals with advanced degrees. All have a minimum of thirteen years experience which includes extensive work in their specialty areas. Their collective experience includes teaching in university graduate and undergraduate programs and service as directors and administrators of clinical programs.

Joy Carroll, Executive Director, Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Carroll is a psychologist with nearly thirty years clinical experience in private practice and church affiliated settings. Her practice emphases include pediatric and adult mood disorders, spiritual issues, and parent-child relationships. For eighteen years, she served as adjunct faculty for colleges and universities where teaching responsibilities included training and supervision of graduate counseling interns. Joy leads classes and seminars, speaks at local, national, and regional conferences, and provides professional development training for mental health professionals and educators.

 

Joy received her doctoral degree from Vanderbilt University.

Brenda-Lee Duarte, Assistant Executive Director, Licensed Professional Counselor
Ms. Duarte is an LPC and National Certified Counselor with seventeen years experience as a clinician and administrator. Her practice focus is children, adolescents and adults dealing with such issues as abuse, parenting and relationships. She leads ongoing therapy groups for adolescents at the Everett Learning Opportunity Center in Maryville. Brenda was previously Program Director and Regional and State Clinical Director for Camelot Care Centers, Inc. and Director of CASE (Court Appointed Special Advocate).

 

Brenda received her masters degree in Counseling from Boston University.

Carla V. Winchester, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Ms. Winchester is an LCSW with thirteen years experience in the mental health field. Her clinical experience includes work with adults, children, adolescents and families. She has served as a behavioral consultant for children at risk of expulsion form preschool or kindergarten. Carla has supervised other therapists working with children and families in a variety of settings. Her practice focus includes blended family concerns, abuse, relationships issues, mood disorders and pediatric behavioral issues.

 

Carla earned her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee.

Tracie Walker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Ms. Walker is an LCSW with twenty years experience including work in child sexual abuse investigation, prevention, and treatment. Her clinical experience includes intensive inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment of children and adults in a variety of settings. Tracie's practice focus includes treatment of children, adolescents and adults with sex abuse issues, including non-offending parents. She conducts recovery groups for adult survivors of sex abuse. Tracie works with LifeLine as an adjunct counselor.

 

Tracie received her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in Nashville.

Charlyne Foster, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Ms. Foster is an LCSW and Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist with twenty years experience in the mental health field. For over twelve years, she has been in private practice with a focus on mood and anxiety disorders, spiritual issues and grief and bereavement counseling. Charlyne was the Director of Social Services for the Developmental and Genetic Center at the University of Tennessee Hospital for four years. Her experience includes work as a hospice therapist for terminally ill patients and their families. She is an adjunct counselor with LifeLine.

 

Charlyne received her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee.

Kelly Widner, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Mr. Widner is an LCSW with thirty years clinical experience in a variety of settings including inpatient treatment facilities and private practice. In his practice, he works with a variety of issues including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, trama and abuse. Kelly works with adolescents, adults and families. His experience includes five years as Assistant Clinical Director of Peninsula Health Systems and nine years as Senior Clinical Supervisor at Overlook Center. He is an adjunct counselor with Lifeline.

 

Kelly received his master's degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee.
